While editing text, you can copy and paste text within the page or between the page and other applications. Applications that run in web browsers — such as the editing system — have restricted access to the clipboard in order to protect your security (as the clipboard may contain sensitive information). As a result, pasting text into a page is a two step process.
You can copy text using the keyboard shortcut ControlC (or CommandC on an Apple Mac).
To paste text, click the Clipboard button on the toolbar, as shown in figure 1, or use the shortcut Control V (or Command V on an Apple Mac).
This will open the clipboard window, as shown in figure 2.
The Plain text tab contains a text field into which you can paste text. Using the mouse you can right-click and select Paste from the menu that appears. Using the keyboard you can use the shortcut Control V (or Command V on an Apple Mac).
Click Paste to paste the text from the text field into your page. Click Cancel to return to the page without pasting text.
The Plain text tab does not preserve formatting. In order to let you move formatted text around on the page, the editing system has its own local clipboard, which is separate from the clipboard used by other applications on your computer. When you copy text using the shortcut ControlC (or CommandC on an Apple Mac), the editing system keeps its own copy on the local clipboard.
To paste formatted text from the local clipboard, click on the Formatted text tab on the clipboard window, as shown in figure 3.
This tab displays the current formatted text from the local clipboard.
Click Paste to paste the text into your page. Click Cancel to return to the page without pasting text.
